Virus koobface attacks facebook.

KOOBFACE is a Trojan worm which is moving around social networking sites like Facebook.Facebook is the favourite and one of the most networked sites in the world.KOOBFACE has started attacking other sites too like Friendsters and MySpace.
What is a worm?
A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computers on the network) and it may do so without any user intervention. Unlike a virus, it does not need to attach itself to an existing program. Worms almost always cause harm to the network, if only by consuming bandwidth, whereas viruses almost always corrupt or modify files on a targeted computer.
How is it effecting the Social networking sites?
When any computer becomes infected with the worm KOOBFACE ,it connects with friends of the profile and spam them with a message like “Are you sure this is your first experience?” or “Is it u there.?” Etc.This link takes them to a site which pretends to offer Video download from “You ube,” but before this MESSAGE asks you to download flash player from Adobe Corp.If a person clicks on this download button,hell!! you are infected.After this anybody who is connected with you will be infected too!All your identity and scrap books along with photos will be hijacked.
Why Social networks?
Fraudsters always like to innovate.Social networks are the Windows of today.If you don’t have a profile on the networks,you are a nobody.It might spread from Europe!Even celebrities like Obama and Britney Spears have profiles.Recently the network sites of President elect Obama and Britney Spears were hijacked!
When I inquired on how to protect against KOOBFACE,I was advised to update my antivirus softwere.Is it a Ploy by security companies to sell their products in the time of recession?Only time will tell?Meanwhile social networks will be the breeding ground for such worms and viruses.However the greater concern is the economic recession which has put many computer security experts out of work.Naturaly they will use their talents elsewhere!
